A day in the life

Thursday February 18th, 2016.

So if you don’t already follow mixandmatchmama’s blog, you should.  My girlfriends hooked me on her last summer.  Well today she did a post called a day in the life, and really just shared pics and what a snap shot at a totally normal day looks like in their world.  I love this!! I am constantly trying to capture the “right now”, and think this is a neat time capsule way of doing this.  So, here is a glimpse at some of our everyday normal.  {already circled a day in my planner in the fall to do this again}

Day started just a hair before 6am, with Beau chatting away in his bed.  Coffee is my pit stop on the way up to his room to collect him.

image

Yes, Beau is almost 15 months old and still takes a bottle in the morning.  Listen, he loves it. I love it, and the kids had a rough jump start at life so he may be 5 before I am willing to take it away. ha!  Plus, I mean, who doesn’t love those early morning, oh so tired, mickey mouse watching snuggles.

Almost 7 am now and the Big ones will be up any minute, so decided to get some bacon going as a surprise.  I do not cook.  This is not a “normal” for us…but bacon is Stella’s love language and I woke up in a pretty good mood.  Meanwhile..Beau continually tries to find ways to harm and kill himself in our home.  Current favorites are climbing {and falling} on anything and trying to get into the fireplace.

By 7:20 the whole crew is up and congregated on the couch.  Sitting on top of each other is their favorite way to watch their morning cartoons.

image

Today is show and tell at school. “R” day…Rainbow dash and T-Rex {yes it starts technically with a T, but my brain was a little tired and we were running late as per usual}.  Photo bombs by Beau ARE a norm around here too.

Back home, its time for B’s breakfast and to play with all his siblings toys.

image

Then his nap time is my glorious window of time to be productive.  Often this involves some pacing…trying to figure out where to start {there are always 100 things to be done and things to be picked up…am i right?!}.  Sometimes this is shower time.  Sometimes this is second cup of coffee time. Today it was workout time.  Trying {hard} to find 30 minutes each day to do something to up the heart rate.  Today was 30 minutes of HIIT on the treadmill.  After that was loading up a diaper bag, cleaning up the kitchen and the mess from the morning bacon, and then getting dressed.  About this time I also know Beau could wake at any moment so I start to rush…and today that meant putting my lip gloss under my eyes instead of my concealer…omg.

image

Few more minutes so I looked up some chair options for our kitchen table online…need to replace the fabric chairs that took up one length of it. Open to any suggestions and places to look!! Help ?

image

And then on to gobble up a breakfast/lunch {you eat when you can when you have this many tiny ones}. Side note: We live 3 hours from a Trader Joes {wah!!}…but if you live closer, get this. SO FREAKIN GOOD. I eat it on my salads, fish, chicken, with a spoon…for real…yummm.  This is also when I start watching the clock and getting excited to go collect the kids.  10:20, 10:22, 10:28, 10:34…

image

10:45 and Beau is up and we are off to collect the bigs.  Oh Thursdays. Love em.  Bust Grant and Stella out early from school, and today, off to Cape {Girardeau} we went.  For those who don’t know, we live an hour from Cape…and Target…I know. omg. But we somehow survive.

And this is what the drive looks like the entire way..

image

After a buzz through Smoothie King {If you haven’t had a Green Tea Tango smoothie before…I feel sad for you. most delicious thing ever.} the park was our first stop. Because with this weather, duh.

imageimageimageimage

And I had mentally planned to stay for an hour…but the sun…and the happiness…so we stayed. too long. but that is also super normal for us. less errand running and more playing.  Grant requested that I chase them “like a big fat mad gorilla”…

image

At one point, I set Beau down to give Stella a push on the swings…and found that he had made his way to the picnic tables and was begging from a woman trying to enjoy a peaceful lunch.  Thankfully she was kind, handed me her bag of potato chips, and told me “it was her pleasure to have lunch with this sweet boy”.  Don’t ever underestimate the power of kindness people…and potato chips.

Flew through the grocery store and Target…

image

Bathroom pit stop…welcome to motherhood.  And yes that is Grant and Stella peeking in both sides of the door.

image

Que the drive home….soooo long….

image

Hit up our hometown Sonic for a half diet coke half diet pepper and in small town fashion, ran into some of our favorite peeps.  And this is totally how we hang out there.

image

After dropping groceries and speed feeding the family, we loaded back up and headed to watch our cousin Hayden in a basketball game. He is a stud. Stella and Grant will likely be making the “3” sign all day tomorrow.

Busy day. No naps. Ran hard. Up past bedtime for the game…you can imagine how the night ended.  But now they are asleep, so Chad and I had a late dinner, cleaned up the kitchen, did dishes, picked up living room, and now at 10:30, am sitting down to try and do a little computer work.  Lastly, will crawl into bed an spend a wee bit of time cruising insta and looking over my pics from the day. Night all! Morning comes early?
