Charcoal {Non- Charcoal} Smoothie

Happy…or should I say Hoppy, Easter Weekend Peeps!

This post is long overdue since I’ve now shared about this smoothie a couple times on my instastory.

I tend to eat whatever the kids are and tend to eat all day long. I was raised by a snacker…and thus snack πŸ˜‰ {shout out to my mama!}. Which is ok when the snacks are healthy…but in the name of sanity, they tend to be gold fish crackers, granola bars, teddy grams, and squeezies….so yeah..

SO, if I lived near a Smoothie King, I would hit it up for a green tea tango with mango every single day. Truth. But I don’t, so my sister {who is all into health and fitness and such} made me one of her uber healthy smoothies when I was visiting Β and I am hooked.

I am hooked mostly because I know how healthy they are, not so much on the fact they taste so delicious…becaue truthfully its not the most delicious thing ever. BUT it is ok, and actually now that i’ve been drinking for a couple weeks, I look forward to them!

I only use the activated charcoal on Mondays because we tend to eat crapola all weekend long πŸ˜‰ It’s a detox {and while there is some debate over it in the health world, it can help pull unwanted toxins out of your system}.

So let’s get to it…here is what you’ll need. {If you don’t live near a health grocery store where most of it can be found, you can turn to amazon ;-)} Also, lots of these things are sold in large tubs so the initial purchase is pricey but should last me for a long time!!

Lemon Juice – 1/2- 3/4 -ish cup

Frozen Banana – 3/4 banana

Mint – several leaves {up to your preferred taste}

Ginger Juice – 1 Tbs.

Greens: Superfood Powder– 1 scoop

Daily Tumeric – heaping scoop

Protein Powder {I alternate between this, this and this} – 1 scoop of ONE of them

Collagen Hydrolysate – about 1-2 Tbs.

Activated Charcoal– large spoonful

**When you use this, it’s super important to drink a TON of water**

Frozen Mango {optional but I add}- 4 small pieces

Add in a handful of ice and blend that baby up! If you need to add more lemon juice or water to get it to blend you can! Also, when using the charcoal…it can be messy if you aren’t careful so just a heads up!

These are very ish measurements because my sister is one of those cook-without-a-cookbook-types! So I’m getting as close as I can to what the measurements are, but adjust to your taste!! The best way I can describe it is that is tastes like cold lemon and mint really! Not too shabby and full of lots of the good stuff! I added up the nutrition from all the labels, and came out around 280 calories and 44 grams of protein!Β

Anyhoo….give it a whirl, and let me know what ya think! I have been drinking now for almost 2 weeks and enjoy the taste a little more with each smoothie! And am happy to drink because I know I am putting lots of good stuff into this bod!

Happy Easter Weekend friends!

xoxo

I just tried a green tea tango smoothie and oh my goodness. It’s amazing. I had not seen a smoothie place since I moved to the east coast but then I saw your recommendation and remembered seeing a smoothie king sign. So I packed up the kids this morning and we went to find it! It is so good! πŸ‘πŸΌ
Now I am going to gather the goodies to try your home smoothie!
    Thanks for the info! ❀
